The 2026 Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival drew roughly 50,000 visitors over the month, underscoring its appeal as a standout spring tourism event.

Wando County said the 16th annual festival, held across Cheongsando from April 1–30, wrapped up last month. This year’s theme, “Heal in Cheongsando this Spring,” focused on guided walks, live performances, hands-on experiences and after-dark programming tailored for leisure seekers.

People came to Cheongsando from all over the country during the festival. Officials reported a single-day peak of 4,600 visitors and a total attendance of about 50,000.

Walking, food and night-time adventures

The signature coastal healing trail walking tour and the Cheongsando Story Bus Tour let visitors take in sweeping canola fields alongside the island’s natural scenery. Evening events like the Moonlight Night Walk and the “Cheongsando: Stars to See” program also drew strong participation.

This year’s festival boosted food and transport options. Stalls offered regional specialties and easy grab-and-go bites, and a free circular bus made it simple for visitors to explore the island’s highlights.

Local residents played an active role in running programs, encouraging on-site interaction between locals and visitors and strengthening the festival’s community-driven spirit.

A Wando County official said, “We will continue to enhance the festival’s offerings by showcasing Cheongsando’s natural environment, culture and marine healing resources.”
