[iNews24 Reporter Seol Jae-yun] Jeju Air kicked off a three-month pilot of a new Incheon–Jeju route on May 12 — a move that should make it much easier for international travelers landing at Incheon International Airport to reach Jeju.

On the trial’s first day, May 12, the service departed Jeju International Airport at 9:45 a.m., arriving at Incheon International Airport at 11:00 a.m. The return flight left Incheon at 11:35 a.m. and landed in Jeju at 12:50 p.m. The inaugural flights reported a 93.1% load factor.

At the inauguration ceremony for Jeju Air’s new Incheon–Jeju service held at Incheon International Airport on the 12th, domestic and visiting guests — including Lee Hae-seong, Jeju Air head of Commercial Division (sixth from right); Choi Won-seon, head of Transportation Services Division (fourth from right); Park Jun-sang, director of the Aviation Industry Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (seventh from right); and Kim Tae-seong, head of Hub Strategy at Incheon International Airport Corporation (fifth from right) — posed for a commemorative photo with the inaugural flight crew. Starting May 16, the schedule shifts to an afternoon slot: departing Jeju at 3:55 p.m. and arriving in Incheon at 5:10 p.m., then leaving Incheon at 6:05 p.m. and arriving back in Jeju at 7:25 p.m. Through May 30, the service will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays.

With Jeju Air operating this route, international travelers arriving at Incheon can complete domestic check-in there and fly straight to Jeju without routing through Gimpo International Airport. The service is also expected to make overseas travel more convenient for Jeju residents.

According to the Jeju Tourism Big Data Service Platform’s “Statistics on Foreign Visitors Arriving in Jeju,” 2,242,187 foreign visitors came to Jeju last year, a 17.7% increase from 1,905,696 in 2024. Foreign arrivals in the first quarter of this year rose 29.3% compared with the same period last year.

A Jeju Air spokesperson said, “As international visitation to Jeju continues to grow, operating the Incheon–Jeju route will help promote balanced regional tourism growth and improve travel convenience for island residents.”
