The program takes inspiration from the seonbi — scholarly figures who once strolled gardens, recited poetry and sipped tea — and is designed to make Korean garden culture feel warm and accessible to foreign guests.

Guests stroll the grounds with hosts dressed in hanbok portraying seonbi and assi, taking part in immersive experiences that showcase traditional garden customs. The program was very popular last year and earned high satisfaction ratings.

This year, tours run at Seoul Forest every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through the 31st. Each session lasts about an hour and is limited to roughly 15 participants. To date, 383 international visitors from countries including the U.S., Belgium and Mexico have joined the tours.

Participants can try on traditional headwear such as the gat or the baesshi hair ribbon, listen to English narration during the walk, and enjoy hands-on activities like making pressed-flower bookmarks and norigae keyring charms. The program is free; you can register in advance or sign up on-site.

Also, Seoul Forest is hosting \”Forest Sound Sessions\” — a music-and-relaxation series — every Friday through Sunday this month. Join at the Meong Garden in front of the community center to relax with music while gazing out over the park’s lake.

Son Sun-hee, head of the Parks and Leisure Division, said, \”We hope international visitors do more than just look at the gardens. Through tailored explanations and a variety of hands-on experiences, they can discover the quiet elegance and relaxed pace of K-garden culture.\”
