Danyang County ‘visual tourism city’ potential is growing. Provided by Danyang County

Danyang is getting noticed as a filming destination and is fast becoming what you might call a \”visual tourism\” town. Since early May, film and video crews have been working across the county, turning familiar streets, parks and neighborhoods into fresh backdrops for new projects.

On May 17, county officials said a variety of productions are currently using downtown Danyang-eup, major tourist spots and local residential areas as settings. In particular, the feature film Mom Every Day is set in Danyang and is expected to showcase the town’s distinct local flavor.

Mom Every Day follows a mother who has run a small brewery on her own and a daughter worn down by city life as they find their way back to each other in their hometown. Filming is scheduled to run from the 7th through the 26th.

Cameras have been rolling at locations such as Danyang Gukyeong Market, Danuri Aquarium and the ecological exploration bridge on Siru Island. The production has also used sites like the Danyang clay shooting range and the Maepo town office. About 50 crew members are staying in the area, and locals are intrigued to see ordinary, everyday places appear on screen.

Director Jo Won-hee is leading the project. Jo, who serves as the chair of the Busan International Film Festival steering committee, has a steady track record in film and broadcasting. For this movie, he is not only directing but also contributing to the screenplay to weave Danyang’s atmosphere and stories into the film.

Danyang appeals to filmmakers because its dramatic natural scenery blends seamlessly with authentic, lived-in scenes. From well-known attractions like Dodamsambong, the Mancheonha Skywalk, Gosu Cave, the Danyang River and the Ondal tourist site to market alleys, riverside promenades and village streets, the area offers a wide range of cinematic settings.

A county official said, \”Lately we’ve seen many filming locations become actual tourist attractions. We expect Danyang to see a similar boost in tourism through visual content. We hope this helps more people discover our beautiful nature and everyday local life.\”

Locations that combine Danyang’s natural scenery and everyday spaces increase its appeal as a filming destination.
