[Sports Today reporter Kim Tae-hyung] Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon came to the aid of a woman who collapsed at a festival in Bangkok, Thailand.

On the 22nd, he took to social media to warn that Songkran — Bangkok’s splashy New Year water festival — is notorious for accidents every year. He noted reports that 191 people died this year and hundreds were injured. Beyond frequent traffic incidents, overdoses and heavy drinking are claiming far too many young lives.

He said he was invited to DJ at the festival and joined this year’s Songkran. While enjoying another event with younger friends, he helped move a Thai woman who had collapsed from alcohol-related issues and hypothermia to a safe spot, and he was relieved the situation didn’t become more serious. He urged caution, warning that dancing and shouting for long periods while soaked and intoxicated can trigger shock or hypothermia. With a season of festivals ahead, he pleaded with everyone to prioritize safety and enjoy responsibly.

Video released from the scene shows Hong spotting an unconscious woman, supporting her, and— with bystanders’ help— getting her to safety. He actively guided the person carrying her through the crowd so they could walk without stumbling.

He closed with a simple reminder: “Youth is beautiful — but act responsibly,” and then quipped, “I wonder if that Thai woman even knows I’m Hong Seok-cheon.”
