[TOUR KOREA = Reporter Seongran Jo] Traveling to the United States in 2026 is all about timing. With the nation’s 250th birthday, Route 66 turning 100, and the FIFA World Cup landing on U.S. soil, the country is gearing up to feel like one massive, coast-to-coast celebration.

Brand USA released its spring tourism update announcing that a \”super event season\” is officially underway as major events collide with fresh tourism infrastructure across the country.

World Cup in 11 U.S. cities; a lineup of mega-events

The headline act is the 2026 FIFA World Cup (North and Central America). Matches will be played in 11 U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and New York/New Jersey.

The nationwide America250 program will mark the country’s 250th anniversary, and the maritime celebration Sail250 will visit five ports, including New Orleans, New York/New Jersey, and Boston.

Route 66, the iconic \”Mother Road,\” celebrates its 100th anniversary with a slate of commemorative events building to a peak on November 11, 2026.

Fred Dixon, CEO of Brand USA, said, \”The combination of major events and new tourism offerings will drive even more demand for travel to the United States.\”

Hotels, resorts, and cultural venues — nationwide infrastructure expansion

Tourism infrastructure is growing fast. In the South, Nashville is gaining the Dolly Parton Songteller Hotel and museum, while Austin, Texas, added the 74-story mixed-use tower Waterline alongside 1 Hotel Austin.

Big developments are also popping up like The Pendry Tampa in Florida and a Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas.

Out West, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is unveiling new galleries for its 60th anniversary, and the Lucas Narrative Art Museum is slated to open on September 22, 2026.

Las Vegas’s Sphere continues drawing crowds with large-scale productions, and Universal Studios Hollywood will introduce a brand-new roller coaster.

Air and ground travel changing — new nonstop Seoul–Newark route

Access is getting easier.

United Airlines plans to launch a new nonstop Seoul–Newark route on September 4, 2026, strengthening ties between Korea and the U.S. Northeast.

Amtrak has also introduced a Mardi Gras Service linking New Orleans and Mobile to improve regional connections.

Culture, exhibitions, and hands-on experiences expand

Cities are beefing up cultural programming across the board.

Chicago will open the Obama Presidential Center in summer 2026, and Kansas City’s National World War I Museum will refresh its exhibitions for its 100th anniversary.

In New York, the 9/11 Memorial is rolling out programs for the 25th anniversary, while the Whitney Museum and New Museum plan expansions and special exhibitions.

Alaska cruises expand — travel choices diversify

Changes extend beyond the continental U.S.

Major cruise lines, including The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and Disney Cruise Line, are expanding Alaska itineraries, and new ships like Star Princess will increase options for travelers.

Brand USA expects 2026 to be a turning point for tourism flows.

Fred Dixon emphasized, \”With nationwide events and new tourism infrastructure coming together, the U.S. is becoming an even more attractive destination for travelers.\”
