Slow Luxury in Bohol, Philippines: The Magic You Only See When You Slow Down

MGallery South Palms Reinterprets Bohol’s Legends and Traditions

From rare salt harvesting to the immersive Sirenna Ritual

Showcasing eco-friendly energy systems and a true farm-to-table approach

Slow down and you’ll notice what you kept missing — that’s the appeal. No wonder “Slow Travel” — lingering longer, traveling deeper, and prioritizing wellness — is having a moment. South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao – MGallery Collection in Bohol, Philippines, is leaning into that trend.

South Palms opened in August 2025 as Arco MGallery’s second flagship resort, following Admiral Hotel Manila. Perched on Bohol’s powder-white shoreline, the property takes inspiration from the island’s sea guardian, Sirenna. The designers blended original architecture using natural materials with carefully placed cultural touches that honor Bohol’s traditions throughout the resort.

Renowned designers Patricia Ho and Philip Pond shaped the resort’s 188 rooms and suites, using 100-year-old reclaimed wood salvaged from traditional Bohol houses to add warmth and depth. Inside, ancient Badlit-suwat script and indigenous tribal motifs decorate the spaces, so guests soak up the island’s culture simply by being there.

MGallery’s signature program, “M Moment,” invites guests to witness the traditional harvest of Asin Tibuok, a rare Filipino salt, and discover how the chefs and wellness team incorporate it into food and spa rituals. At sunset, the resort stages the Sirenna Ritual — an immersive blend of Visayan tribal dance and live drumming inspired by local legend.

Lola’s Sanctuary spa leans into holistic wellness, offering hilot — the island’s traditional healing massage. UNA Restaurant champions true farm-to-table dining, serving dishes made from ingredients grown at the nearby South Farm. The resort also curates restorative experiences like sunrise yoga and guided mindful walks to help guests find balance.

The Sirenna Plane Wreck, located about 150 meters (roughly 492 feet) offshore, is a safe, family-friendly spot for snorkeling and diving. The resort’s aqua sports center rents kayaks and paddleboards, and offers island tours to Balicasag and Pamilacan, dolphin‑watching trips, PADI-certified diving courses, and mermaid swim classes for kids.

At South Farm — the resort’s on-site source for produce — guests can feed the animals and tour hydroponic greenhouses to get a hands-on feel for sustainable island living. The resort’s active eco solutions, from solar panels to a system that recycles 80% of wastewater, appeal to travelers who care about responsible, value-driven experiences.

South Palms Resort is conveniently located just 5 km (about 3.1 miles) from Bohol–Panglao International Airport, and is accessible via direct flights currently operating from Seoul and Busan.
