[Herald Economy = Park Jong-il, Senior Reporter] Former Seoul councilor Kang Gam-chang, who served as vice chair of the city council and ran in the People Power Party primary for Songpa district mayor, announced his support for incumbent Songpa Mayor Seo Kang-seok after the party confirmed Seo as its candidate.
At a support declaration on the 29th at Seo’s campaign office in Songpa-dong, Kang said, “The party faces a difficult situation, so at the local level we must present a united front and get through this crisis,” adding, “Seo, as an administrative expert, is necessary for Songpa’s development.”
That day, Kang handed his policy pledges to Mayor Seo. The envelope read, “Beyond division in the Songpa mayoral race, toward unity — One-Team Songpa is the People Power Party’s standard.”
Kang stressed, “We have an urgent imperative not to lose Songpa. If we unite, we will win.”
Mayor Seo responded, “I thank Kang for declaring his support for the greater good and for backing these important policies. I will honor Kang’s intentions and secure victory in the June 3 Songpa mayoral election.”
Seo added, “Seeing the primary candidates come together will reassure Songpa residents who support our party. This endorsement should help raise our party’s support in Songpa.”
