Hyundai’s high-performance arm, Hyundai N, crossed the finish line at the Nürburgring 24 Hours for the 11th straight year. The program also notched a sixth consecutive TCR-class victory and completed endurance validation of its next-generation performance engine, underscoring Hyundai’s engineering progress.
Hyundai said on May 18 that all three cars it entered in the May 16–17 event in Nürburg — one Elantra N TCR and two Elantra N1 Cup cars — finished the race.
The Elantra N TCR claimed the TCR class win, extending Hyundai N’s streak to six straight class victories. Since the brand first entered the race in 2016, Hyundai N has now recorded 11 consecutive finishes at the event.
The Nürburgring 24 Hours is widely regarded as one of the toughest endurance races in the world. The circuit measures 25.378 km (15.78 miles), features elevation changes up to 300 m (984 ft) and roughly 170 corners, and carries the nickname “The Green Hell.” With drivers battling extreme conditions for 24 hours, the race typically posts a finish rate around 60–70 percent.
Finishing the Nürburgring 24 is itself a major validation of a car’s durability and performance. Industry observers say Hyundai’s combination of 11 straight finishes and six consecutive class wins points to Hyundai N’s technology reaching a reliable, competitive level.

This year Hyundai also used the race to validate a next-generation high-performance powertrain. For the first time, the company entered two Elantra N1 Cup cars powered by a new 2.5-liter turbo engine intended for future N models. With the larger displacement, the cars competed in the higher SP4T class.
The two N1 Cup cars were driven by young Korean talents who rose through the Hyundai N Festival program — Kim Kyu-min, Kim Young-chan and Shin Woo-jin. Both cars finished, allowing Hyundai to verify the engine’s performance and durability under race conditions, the company said.
Hyundai also pushes promising drivers onto the global stage through its Hyundai Junior Driver program and continues to use motorsports as a real-world testbed for production-car technology. In 2016, Hyundai N ran a prototype 2.0-liter Theta turbo in an i30 test car at the Nürburgring and later used those learnings in production development.

Analysts note that Hyundai Motor Group treats motorsports not just as marketing but as a platform to strengthen its brands and validate technology. Hyundai N collects performance data across WRC, TCR and the Nürburgring, while Genesis is moving into the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with its high-performance Magma program.
Hyundai has claimed manufacturer titles and produced driver champions in WRC, and Genesis Magma Racing scored points in its WEC debut season this year, boosting its profile. Observers say the group, once seen mainly as a mass-market manufacturer, is leveraging global motorsports to build a high-performance and premium image.
Park Jun-woo, head of Hyundai N Management (executive director), called the results meaningful, saying Hyundai N will reinforce its technical value based on proven durability and performance and deliver driving enjoyment to more customers using the technologies developed through motorsports.
