Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei urged government leaders and officials to fulfill their duties to the people confronting U.S. and Israeli forces. In a written statement released by state-run media to mark the second anniversary of former President Ebrahim Raisi’s death in a May 2024 helicopter crash, Khamenei paid tribute to Raisi and other victims, including the foreign minister. He invoked those who sacrificed themselves for the nation and called on public officials to respond responsibly amid Iran’s current external standoff. “We now stand before an unprecedented, historic epic of resistance that the Iranian people have achieved against two terrorist armies — the United States and Israel,” Khamenei said. He added that the responsibilities of the supreme leader, the heads of ministries and all senior officials have grown heavier than before. He stressed that “the only way to repay the blessing of unity among the state, the government and all institutions is for public officials to redouble their efforts.” Khamenei called for measures to stabilize the economy and protect livelihoods, for field-centered administration, and for people-centered development. #Mojtaba #Iran #SupremeLeader Yonhap News TV — For story tips and inquiries: KakaoTalk/LINE jebo23; Choi Jin-kyung (highjean@yna.co.kr)
