[MyDaily = Reporter No Chan-hyeok] Barcelona has opened formal talks with Manchester United over a permanent deal for Marcus Rashford, British outlet Football Insider reported on the 24th (KST). Barcelona is pushing to renegotiate the transfer fee downward as it seeks to make the move permanent.Rashford, an England international, primarily operates as a left winger. He offers pace, direct dribbling, and a knack for exploiting space behind defenses. A product of Manchester United’s academy, Rashford joined the club in 2005 and made his first-team debut in the 2015–16 season. He hit 30 goals across all competitions in 2022–23 and established himself as a key attacking figure. After a period of form and attitude concerns that limited his role at United, Rashford had a loan spell at Aston Villa before joining Barcelona on loan this season. He has responded strongly at Camp Nou, registering 14 goals and 11 assists, and helping Barcelona capture La Liga and the Supercopa de España. His form also earned him a spot on England’s final squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America. Both Barcelona and Rashford want a permanent transfer, but the fee remains the main obstacle. Barcelona, under financial constraints, is seeking a reduction on the €30 million buyout clause (about 53 billion KRW, approximately $32.1 million). Manchester United turned that down. Still, because then-manager Hansi Flick reportedly favored keeping Rashford, Barcelona plans to return to the table offering either a reduced fee or an extension of the loan.Football Insider says Barcelona currently has no intention of unilaterally triggering the buyout clause, but a permanent move remains possible given Rashford’s uncertain future at United. Michael Carrick is now United’s full-time manager, and Rashford is not thought to be part of his immediate plans. Barcelona knows it needs to move quickly to negotiate a permanent deal before other clubs—including Liverpool and Real Madrid—express interest. Most read:- ‘Youthful Blossoms’ production team scrambles over Choi Woo-shik—sudden trip to Jeju?- Jeongyeon bounces back from Cushing’s syndrome to regain top form; praised for doll-like looks- ‘Unbelievable’ — 39-year-old Ryu Hyun-jin reaches 200 career wins across Korea and the U.S.- Hanwha moves into sole fifth place: Peraza homer, Park Sang-won save; Doosan swept
