Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on the 28th (local time) that it struck a U.S. Air Force base in retaliation for an American attack.
Reuters, citing state media, reported that the IRGC — Iran’s elite corps — said it targeted a U.S. Air Force base at about 4:50 a.m. that day.
The IRGC said it immediately struck back at the air base after U.S. forces carried out additional airstrikes that morning targeting Bandar Abbas in southern Iran.
The IRGC called the U.S. action an act of aggression and warned, \”If this is repeated, we will respond more decisively, and the aggressor will bear responsibility for the consequences.\”
The IRGC did not identify the base it struck, but missile launches detected over Kuwaiti airspace — where U.S. facilities are located — have increased the likelihood that Kuwait was the target.
AFP and Reuters reported that Kuwait’s military posted on X (formerly Twitter) that its air defenses were responding to hostile missile and drone attacks.
Kuwait hosts the U.S. Ali Al Salem Air Base, which has long been considered one of Iran’s most likely targets in the conflict.
