Zelensky’s AI Drone Plan: A High-Stakes Partnership with the U.S.

Translation result볼로디미르 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a major drone agreement between Ukraine and the European Union (EU) is being prepared.

In an interview aired on CBS on the 31st (local time), Zelensky said Ukraine fields both aerial and maritime drones and is capable of operating nearly every type of unmanned system. He noted that Kyiv has already signed drone-related agreements with several Middle Eastern countries and expects to formalize agreements not only with the EU but with the United States as well.

Zelensky said cooperation with the U.S. could become one of the world’s strongest technological partnerships, arguing that combining American artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities with Ukraine’s battlefield experience would produce significant synergies. He added that, while a formal agreement with the U.S. has not yet been signed, American officials are conducting procedures to verify the performance and operational methods of Ukrainian drones.

Zelensky also warned that the period before winter will be critical to the course of the war. He said Russia is intensifying large-scale missile and drone strikes ahead of winter, applying pressure across both front lines and rear areas. Preventing Russia from regaining full battlefield initiative during this window, he stressed, is essential.

Meanwhile, Zelensky alleged that Russia has been abducting Ukrainian children, subjecting them to indoctrination, and then deploying them to the front. He said Ukraine has confirmed roughly 20,000 kidnapped children and that the actual number could be higher; only about 2,200 have returned so far.
