Suwon World Cup Stadium was transformed into a sprawling family theme park for Children’s Day.

Children raced across the green turf while families gathered to watch popular character shows, keeping the stadium and surrounding areas lively throughout the day.

The Suwon World Cup Stadium Management Foundation (the Foundation) said roughly 30,000 people attended the World Cup Stadium Playpark on May 5, an event that drew large crowds and ended successfully.

For one day, the Foundation opened the stadium’s main pitch — normally off-limits — so visitors could enjoy cultural performances and hands-on activities. Organizers expanded this year’s footprint to include the central plaza, adding more attractions for families.

On the main stage, familiar children’s acts and parades — including the Bebepin Happy Concert, Pinkfong and Tuntun Teacher’s Dance Party, and the Robocar Poli sing-along — drew strong audiences. The Army Capital Corps’ military band joined the character parade, lifting the celebratory atmosphere.

Interactive attractions were a hit. A children’s ball-control event with the Foundation’s ambassador Park Ju-ho and an autograph session featuring Park Ju-ho and Kim Hun drew long lines.

In the central plaza, a Hello Carbot sing-along was accompanied by magic acts, a bubble show, and a tall-clown performance, all adding to the festival atmosphere.

Collaborative programs with partner agencies kept families engaged. Fire-safety booths run by the Suwon South Fire Station and Hwaseong Fire Station, along with motorcycle and mounted-police demonstrations from the Southern Gyeonggi Provincial Police, offered children hands-on experiences and safety education. The Gyeonggi Arts Center contributed musical and dance performances.

Kim Hwa-jun, the foundation’s secretary-general, said, \”This event has become a signature family festival for the region. We will continue to develop the stadium as a mixed-use cultural space where sports and culture coexist so residents will feel comfortable visiting it as part of their daily lives.\”
