Unlocking K-Pop Secrets: 5 Surprising Revelations from H.O.T’s 30th Anniversary Reunion

[EPN Enpinow reporter Go Nari] SBS variety show ‘My Little Old Boy’ will reunite first-generation K-pop idols to mark the 30th anniversary of H.O.T.’s debut.

On the May 3 broadcast of ‘My Little Old Boy,’ Sechskies’ Jang Su-won and g.o.d.’s Park Joon-hyung join Tony An and Moon Hee-jun for the celebration. Once seen as rivals during the idols’ peak, the four spend the episode reminiscing about their shared history.

Appearing as a special MC, Kangnam watched the reunion and was visibly moved. The performers staged a dance parade to their classic hits, proving they still have the moves — and prompting laughter when their stamina didn’t quite match their glory days.

The episode also revisits scenes from H.O.T.’s 1996 debut, which set off a nationwide craze. Their popularity once led students to cut class en masse to see performances, leading schools to ban early dismissals — an anecdote the program revisits.

Sechskies member Jang Su-won drew attention by recounting an accident that happened during the group’s final performance before their breakup — an incident that even made the news. The broadcast is expected to delve into the details.

g.o.d.’s Park Joon-hyung recalled holding what was billed as the industry’s first idol dating-scandal press conference and quipped, \”Thanks to me, idols could date,\” sending the set into laughter. The show also revealed how the members sustained relationships amid busy schedules. Tony An grabbed attention by revealing that secret romances took place inside broadcasting stations during H.O.T.’s heyday and by naming the spots they used for dates.

Moon Hee-jun said he had never heard some of these stories and looked genuinely surprised, adding both humor and tension for the cast and viewers alike.

Viewers can watch this special 30th-anniversary party on ‘My Little Old Boy’ at 9 p.m. KST on May 3.
