What Makes Born to Stand Out’s Seongsu Store a Must-Visit? Discover Exclusive Offers and Unique Art

Korean luxury fragrance house Bontu Standout has opened its latest outpost, the “Bontu Standout Flagship Seongsu,” in Seongsu-dong, Seoul’s creative district.

Following its Hannam and Samcheong locations, Flagship Seongsu is the brand’s third Seoul flagship. The store channels Seongsu’s artisanal character—an area long known for handmade shoemaking and leather workshops—directly into its design.

Rather than erasing those traces, the brand reimagines them in its own visual language as an homage to time and history. The red-brick exterior remains intact, while the interior highlights Seongsu-dong’s industrial heritage, the marks of Korea’s modernization, and the tactile materiality of the city.

On the ground floor, the worn textures of red brick and reclaimed leather map the passage of time. Perfumes are presented as sculptural objects, and the space pairs scent with symbols that embody Seongsu-dong’s lived history. Contemporary Korean artworks are woven throughout, preserving the neighborhood’s grain while giving it a fresh, modern sensibility.

Upstairs, a collaboration with artist collective Silo Lab yields a monumental media work that captures visitors’ movement and leaves fleeting traces on the screen—turning passing moments into striking visual images.

Playful, pigeon-shaped CCTV cameras peek from corners, and perfume display zones sit atop repurposed wooden pallets salvaged from nearby factories—details that root the store in Seongsu’s industrial DNA. The annex offers an intimate immersion into the brand’s philosophy, dotted with signature motifs alongside in-house artists’ pieces and collaborative works.

The space also debuts a specialty coffee line and travel-size sprays. The coffee arrives in six flavor profiles, translating Bontu Standout’s scent-driven sensibility into tasting notes, while the travel-size sprays make the brand’s world portable for everyday life.

To celebrate the opening, shoppers receive a trio of vials with any purchase and a travel-size spray with fragrance purchases of 50 ml (1.7 fl oz) or more. Spend 150,000 KRW (approximately $112.50) and get the Filthy Musk Hand Cream; spend 450,000 KRW (approximately $337.50) and receive a 50 ml (1.7 fl oz) Choco Loco Eau de Parfum.
