Carol and Robin’s sun-soaked, airy duplex in Paris has been turning heads for its gorgeous interiors. The two-level home totals about 750 sq ft (70 m² / roughly 21 pyeong). With two young sons, the couple specifically chose this layout because it includes a private garden — a way to give their kids a childhood close to nature.

Eager to enrich family life, they devised a distinctive interior plan. To make the combined 70 m² feel larger and more comfortable, they leaned into the garden off the first floor and made it a central part of the living space.

They softened the boundary between garden and interior by installing three sets of double doors, instantly easing any sense of confinement in a compact home. The living room feels bright and classic with white walls and herringbone wood floors, while the kitchen makes a bold statement — painted green on both walls and floor — creating a chic two-tone separation between cooking and lounging. To keep the look cohesive, custom cabinetry and the sink echo the living room’s wood and white palette, tying the whole first floor together.

Instead of crowding the rooms with bulky furniture, they maximized storage with built-in cabinets and kept furnishings minimal, relying on small decor pieces to add personality. The result is a tidy, visually expansive home — a model for how a roughly 750-sq-ft space can feel open and stylish.

The staircase up to the second-floor bedroom and the kids’ rooms is crafted from sturdy steel, with safety as a top priority.
