Haenam County in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, has stepped up food-safety and price-control measures ahead of the Dinosaur Festival, which takes place over the Children’s Day holiday weekend.
Before the festival kicked off, county officials held hygiene and service trainings for the participating food vendors and shared the operating guidelines. With spring temperatures rising and the risk of foodborne illness increasing, they distributed on-site inspection checklists focused on ingredient handling, kitchen sanitation, and staff personal hygiene.
The festival will feature 16 food booths, including restaurants and food trucks. Organizers are cutting down on single-use items by introducing reusable containers, while a separate company will manage container collection and washing.
Price control is another major focus. The county now requires vendors to post clear price lists to prevent consumer confusion and curb sticker shock.
During the festival, county teams will conduct joint inspections with restaurant industry groups to monitor hygiene and compliance with price labeling throughout the event. Officials say the on-site response system is designed to minimize the chance of issues.
The festival runs May 2–5 around the Haenam Dinosaur Museum and will offer hands-on programs tailored for families.
