Translation result.Tongyeong City announced that Azur Spring, which premieres on the 11th, will put the city’s breathtaking scenery and local cuisine on the global map through all-location filming across its main islands.
Azur Spring follows former competitive swimmer Seo Anna (Kim Ye-rim), who has been paralyzed by fear about her future, and Yoon Deok-hyun (Kang Sang-jun), a man haunted by past wounds. The two find one another and begin to heal while living as traditional freedivers—female freedivers (haenyeo) and male freedivers (haenam)—in the waters around Tongyeong. The series is adapted from the webtoon of the same name by writer Jang Deok-hyun.

The production shot the entire series on Tongyeong’s signature islands—Bijindo, Somaemuldo, Daemaemuldo, and Yeondaedo—capturing the emerald waters and rugged beauty of Hallyeohaesang National Park.
In the drama, the Tongyeong sea becomes both a home and a space for healing and growth. Viewers will be treated to the islands’ standout natural sights, from Bijindo’s coral-tinted beaches to Somaemuldo’s lighthouse islet.
Through the characters’ everyday lives, the series also showcases Tongyeong’s fresh seafood and diverse local ingredients—a spotlight that officials hope will promote regional specialties and boost tourism.
A Tongyeong city official said, “We hope the drama will introduce Tongyeong’s beautiful islands and cuisine to a wider audience and help the city take a step toward becoming a global marine tourism destination.”
Azur Spring premieres at 11 p.m. on the 11th on MBN Plus. Domestic streaming platforms Wavve and TVING will begin streaming it at 11:30 p.m. the same night, and international viewers can watch it on Viu, ABEMA, and KOCOWA.
