Actor Park Jung-min has shed his nerdy image to embrace a more romantic persona. Following his captivating performance with singer Hwasa at last year’s Blue Dragon Film Awards, he now portrays a passionate love story in the upcoming film “Humint,” directed by Ryoo Seung-wan. After a successful weight loss journey, his enhanced visuals have added a layer of sex appeal to his already charming demeanor.

Park is set to grace the silver screen on February 11 with “Humint.” The buzz surrounding his latest project has intensified since his show-stopping performance with Hwasa at the Blue Dragon Film Awards last November, which catapulted him to trending status. Fans are eagerly anticipating the new facets of his talent that “Humint” will unveil.

At the Blue Dragon Film Awards, Park stole the show with a single smoldering glance. His tender gaze towards Hwasa on stage resonated with viewers nationwide, sparking a frenzy of reactions. Audiences swooned, declaring “Park Jung-min guilty of stealing hearts” and “We’ve just witnessed an entire romance unfold.” This magical moment on stage was a callback to their chemistry in Hwasa’s “Good Goodbye” music video, where Park played her ex-boyfriend.

Riding the wave of his newfound “heartthrob” status, Park returns to the big screen in “Humint.” Set in Vladivostok, this action-packed drama follows National Intelligence Service agents and North Korean Ministry of State Security officials as they clash over conflicting agendas. Park portrays Park Gun, a North Korean state security officer known for his sharp judgment and swift actions. However, Gun’s cool facade crumbles when it comes to his beloved Chae Sun-hwa, played by Shin Se-kyung.

Park Gun’s fervent love for Chae Sun-hwa adds a layer of warmth to “Humint’s” espionage narrative. While Park’s gentle gaze captivated audiences during his brief stage performance with Hwasa, it evolves into a fiery, intense stare in this film. Although Park has previously steered clear of traditional melodramas, he brings a refreshing intensity to the role of a straightforward, passionate man.

Park also showcases a new side through action sequences. His fluid movements, rooted in Hapkido, combined with intense gunplay, highlight his masculine charm. The juxtaposition of rugged action and smoldering romantic gazes in Park’s performance promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Despite the industry buzz labeling him as the latest “it” actor, Park remains remarkably grounded. He admits to feeling overwhelmed by the flood of memes following his performance with Hwasa, even resorting to muting related content on social media. When congratulated on his rising fame, he humbly jokes, “I’m not sure how far I need to go to truly ‘make it.'” Park downplays his trending status, noting, “This popularity will likely be fleeting,” as he strives to maintain his focus.

While he could capitalize on his “nation’s ex-boyfriend” image to boost his marketability, Park finds satisfaction in the expanding range of his acting opportunities. He reflects, “It’s surreal that after 15 years of hard work, terms like ‘heartthrob’ are now associated with me. Broadening my horizons as an actor is truly rewarding.”

Park’s unpretentious humility, coupled with his commitment to honing his craft, makes him impossible to ignore. His journey from collaborating with Hwasa and Shin Se-kyung to capturing the hearts of viewers nationwide has fans eagerly anticipating his next career moves.
