Fans missed the chance to hear actor Jisoo, Seoin-guk, and director Kim Jung-sik discuss behind-the-scenes details of the drama. A planned finale interview for Netflix’s series Monthly Boyfriend was ultimately canceled, a disappointment made sharper by the show’s strong reception at home and abroad.
‘Monthly Boyfriend’ is a rom-com about webtoon producer Mirae (played by Jisoo), who, weary of real life, subscribes to a virtual dating simulation to experience romance. According to Netflix’s Tudum Top 10, the series rose to No. 4 on the Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows list within three days of release. It logged 2.6 million “views” (total viewing time divided by the show’s running time) and 25.6 million viewing hours, ranking first by viewing hours.

Despite those strong metrics, neither Jisoo nor Seoin-guk will be doing promotional interviews. When a drama generates buzz, it’s standard for cast members to meet the press; after weighing various factors, both decided not to proceed.
Jisoo is currently occupied with BLACKPINK’s comeback. The group released their third mini-album DEADLINE on the 27th of last month. The title track “GO,” driven by a bold beat and a confident message, has already registered brisk movement on major global charts.

Male lead Seoin-guk is also focused on his next project, filming tvN’s new drama I’ll Go to Work Tomorrow! He’s gearing up for a 2026 fan-meeting tour as well; Phase 1 targets South America, starting in Mexico on the 24th and continuing to Chile and Brazil to engage fans there.
Director Kim Jung-sik moved straight into his next production after Monthly Boyfriend wrapped. The series drew attention not only for its leads but also for a prominent male supporting cast — Lee Soo-hyuk, Seo Kang-joon, Kim Sung-cheol, and Park Jae-beom — which had heightened interest in Kim’s choices. That makes the missed opportunity to hear casting backstories particularly regrettable.

Given the varied responses to Jisoo’s performance and the interpretation of her character, a wrap-up interview with the actors and director could have deepened viewers’ understanding of the series. Industry insiders say that, despite the show’s achievements, the absence of follow-up promotion leaves a promotional gap — a missed chance to give the series a fuller send-off.
