Hanwha defense affiliates Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Systems said May 12 they will participate in BSDA (Black Sea Defense & Aerospace) 2026 — the largest defense expo in the Balkans — in Bucharest, Romania, where they plan to showcase next‑generation unmanned integrated solutions.

The show runs May 13–15 and will feature roughly 550 companies from 36 countries and more than 30,000 visitors. Hanwha has built a 437㎡ (about 132 pyeong; about 4,705 sq ft) integrated booth to present a tailored portfolio aimed at local security requirements.

The centerpiece will be unmanned combat systems. With European nations accelerating unmanned system acquisitions and Romania pursuing a program for ground unmanned vehicles (UGVs), Hanwha Aerospace will exhibit GRUNT, an upgraded version of its domestically developed multipurpose unmanned vehicle Arion‑SMET, and THeMIS‑K, a tracked unmanned vehicle co‑developed with Estonian firm Milrem Robotics.

On May 12, the day before the exhibition opened, Hanwha invited Romanian military officials to a manned‑unmanned teaming (MUM‑T) demonstration using the two vehicles. The live showcase highlighted combined‑mission capabilities such as reconnaissance and resupply and drew strong interest from local officials.

Hanwha will also display traditional frontline systems, including a K9A1 self‑propelled howitzer, the Cheonmu multi‑launch guided rocket system, the long‑range surface‑to‑air missile (L‑SAM) and the short‑range air defense system (H‑SHORAD), underscoring advanced firepower and layered air‑defense networks.

Hanwha Systems is presenting an AI‑based satellite imagery analysis solution that can precisely identify targets such as aircraft, vehicles and trains. When integrated with weapons systems, the capability enhances battlefield awareness and strike effectiveness. The company is also showcasing an AI‑based Smart Battleship (SBS) concept and a next‑generation autonomous mine‑countermeasure system that navigates to detect mines and neutralizes them through self‑detonation, positioning these technologies as key assets for maritime defense.

A Hanwha official said, \”Europe is responding swiftly to rearmament and shifts in the security environment. We will actively meet regional security needs through advanced technologies and local production capabilities.\”
