Michelin to Supply Tires for Hyundai’s Hydrogen Trucks Bound for Europe Michelin announced on February 10 that it will provide its ‘Michelin X Line Energy’ tires as original equipment (OE) for Hyundai Motor’s ‘New Xcient Hydrogen Electric Truck’ models destined for the European market.
The New Xcient Hydrogen Electric Truck is a cutting-edge commercial vehicle that showcases Hyundai’s commitment to sustainable transportation. Equipped with a 180 kW hydrogen fuel cell system and a powerful 350 kW drive motor, this heavy-duty truck boasts an impressive range of over 720 km (447 miles) on a single charge, even when fully loaded. The vehicle integrates PlusAI’s Level 4 autonomous driving software, ‘Super Drive,’ enhancing both operational efficiency and safety. This innovative combination of hydrogen power and advanced autonomy has earned the truck a spot on Time’s prestigious ‘Best Inventions of 2025’ list.
Michelin’s X Line Energy tire is specifically engineered to meet the demands of long-haul transportation. The tire incorporates state-of-the-art features, including a robust structure and self-healing tread technology, to maximize fuel efficiency and durability. Michelin reports that the tire utilizes advanced compound and carcass technology to achieve exceptionally low rolling resistance, meeting Europe’s stringent Class A rolling resistance standards.
