The BMW X7 continues to dominate South Korea’s imported full-size SUV segment.

According to the Korea Imported Automobile Association (KAIDA), the X7 sold 372 units in February, leading the segment.

That figure is more than twice the sales of the runner-up, the Range Rover (104 units), giving the X7 a 62.2% share of the market.

Even when combined, sales of rivals such as the Mercedes‑Benz GLS, Lexus LX and Cadillac Escalade do not match the X7’s total.

Dominates Rivals

Has Reshaped the Market

The X7’s strength is not a short-term spike.

Since its 2019 debut, it has been the top-selling imported full-size SUV every year from 2020 onward.

Notably, annual sales exceeded 4,000 units each year from 2023 through 2025, and last year reached a record 4,593 units.

Analysts say this trend has done more than create a hit model—it has reorganized the market around the X7.

Core Competitive Edge

Buyers cite driving dynamics as the primary reason they choose the X7.

Where many full-size SUVs feel ponderous and prioritize a softer ride as they grow, the X7 preserves BMW’s characteristic agility.

Standard technologies such as air suspension and rear-wheel steering help it deliver surprisingly nimble handling for its size.

Owners often report it drives more like an X5 than a traditional full-size SUV.

Also Competitive on Price

The X7’s base price starts in the 150 million KRW range (about $112,500 USD), but it sits at a relatively lower price point than many competitors.

With promotional discounts of up to roughly 13 million KRW (about $9,750 USD), the effective purchase price can be considerably lower.

Standard equipment aligns with what buyers expect from a full-size SUV: heated seats across all three rows, five-zone climate control, premium leather upholstery and a suite of driver-assistance systems.

Industry insiders call the X7 a rare example that combines driving dynamics, equipment and price competitiveness, and they expect its run at the top to continue for the foreseeable future.

BMW plans to launch the next-generation X7 next year, along with a fully electric iX7.
