Beginning on the 24th, the city of Incheon will add two buses to the M6464 express line that connects Songdo Section 6 with Seoul’s Gangnam Station.

The added vehicles will shorten headways, cutting commuters’ wait times and improving travel during peak hours.

The route opened in February to give residents of Songdo Sections 6 and 3—areas that saw a population surge after large apartment move-ins—better access to Gangnam. City officials say the extra buses should meaningfully ease travel for residents who commute to Seoul without transfers.

With this change, the M6464 will operate five buses on weekdays, up from three, including one charter coach. That should roughly halve peak-period headways and significantly improve convenience for riders.

Since introducing a quasi-public operating system for regional buses, Incheon reports overall improvements in service. The city says it will continue working closely with bus operators to expand the number of express (M) and direct-seat routes.

Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok said, “Expanding the metropolitan transit network that links major hubs is a core task to protect citizens’ right to mobility and strengthen the city’s competitiveness. We will keep improving residents’ quality of life by building balanced transport infrastructure.”
