906 passengers transferred to a replacement train; delays disrupted service
A KTX high-speed train bound for Seoul from Busan on a holiday morning stopped after suffering a mechanical problem.
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) said the train experienced an operational failure and came to a halt shortly after leaving Daejeon Station at about 8:32 a.m. on the 10th. KORAIL crews performed emergency procedures and moved the disabled train back to Daejeon Station. Some 906 passengers transferred to a replacement train, which departed around 9:33 a.m.
Passengers endured delays of roughly 79 minutes. Six other scheduled trains were delayed about 10 to 40 minutes, disrupting service more broadly.
A KORAIL official said vehicle specialists carried out emergency repairs and that the train will be taken to a maintenance depot for a detailed inspection to determine the cause of the malfunction.
