Starting May 15, KTX and SRT trains will run coupled together on select stretches of the Honam and Gyeongbu lines, expanding seat availability and lowering fares. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), and SR, the operator of the SRT, said they will launch a pilot coupled-train service on May 15. On some segments, the combined operation can increase seat capacity by as much as twice the current level. Because the service will apply uniform fares for both KTX and SRT, KTX fares for trips that start or end at Suseo Station will be reduced by about 10%.
