[Sports Today reporter Im Si-ryeong] Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Choi Hwi-young commented on the BTS Gwanghwamun performance.

On March 22, Minister Choi wrote on social media that BTS’ performance of “Arirang” at Gwanghwamun concluded without a single safety incident. He credited the outcome to the city’s mature civic spirit and the cooperation of ARMY fans who traveled from around the world.

He added, “After three years and five months away, BTS’ voices rang out across a purple-lit Gwanghwamun Square, and the group’s dynamic, full-lineup performance left fans in awe. I thank the many citizens who tolerated inconveniences for this event, and all the volunteers, public officials and others who worked to keep the show safe. The performance reached audiences in more than 190 countries worldwide.”

Minister Choi also pledged, “The government will do its best to help our proud K‑culture spread more quickly and more broadly around the world.”

BTS staged its comeback celebration, BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG, at 8:00 p.m. on March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul’s Jongno District. Seoul officials estimated about 44,000 attendees, while HYBE put the figure at 104,000. Netflix also live-streamed the event to viewers in more than 190 countries.
