[iNews24 Reporter Lim Jeong-kyu] The Pyeongtaek City Council in Gyeonggi Province concluded its eight-day agenda on the 10th, holding the second plenary session of the 260th extraordinary meeting in the main assembly hall.
During this session, the council deliberated on a total of 19 items, including six ordinance bills proposed by council members and 13 items submitted by the executive branch.
Of these, the city council approved 13 items as originally proposed, passed five with modifications, and provided opinions on one item.
Throughout the session, each standing committee carefully reviewed departmental priorities while listening to reports on major tasks for the first half of 2026.
Council members engaged in vigorous legislative activities, offering alternatives to enhance the efficiency of city administration and improve citizens’ quality of life through their inquiries.
During the assembly, Council Member Kim Hye-young delivered a seven-minute speech, addressing the issues surrounding the solar power plans for Pyeongtaek Port and Pyeongtaek Lake, and proposing solutions to benefit citizens.
Kim strongly urged for the establishment of a “public discussion before decision” principle through city-led public hearings, a complete suspension of permits until national environmental and safety standards are set, and the creation of an integrated master plan that prioritizes the original functions of the port and lake.
Speaker Kang Jeong-gu expressed his gratitude to the council members and public officials for their dedication during the session. He stated, “As we approach the Lunar New Year, I sincerely hope that every household experiences a warm time filled with health and happiness.”
