Proceedings to Include Appointment of Audit Committee for Fiscal Year 2025

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Council will convene its 361st extraordinary session from the 18th through the 1st of next month.
With local elections scheduled for June, the session will include the 12th assembly’s final round of questioning of the provincial administration, the appointment of the audit committee for fiscal year 2025, and consideration of various public welfare ordinances.
At the first plenary on the 18th, council members Im Byeong-ha (Yeongju), Lee Dong-eop (Pohang), and Park Chae-ah (Gyeongsan) will lead the year’s first—and the 12th assembly’s final—gubernatorial questioning session to examine issues in provincial and educational administration and to propose policy alternatives.
Im will question progress on the Yeongju Advanced Bearing National Industrial Complex, Local Route 935, and regional workforce development initiatives. Lee will press on responses to the steel industry crisis, the development plan for a mixed marine leisure and tourism city, city gas rates, and dredging work on the Hyeongsan River.
Park will raise questions about using the mandatory employment levy to hire disabled performing artists, improving staffing levels to foster a child-rearing–friendly culture, and creating pathways to industrial employment for undocumented migrant children after graduation.
The council will also appoint a 10-member audit committee to review the fiscal 2025 accounts of Gyeongbuk Province and the Gyeongbuk Office of Education. The panel will include three council members—Park Chae-ah, Choi Byeong-geun (Gimcheon), and Park Gyu-tak (proportional)—alongside private-sector experts such as tax accountants and certified public accountants.
The second plenary will convene on the 1st of next month, opening with five-minute floor remarks on various issues, followed by consideration of public welfare ordinances and other agenda items before adjournment.
Park Seong-man, chair of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, urged members to devote themselves fully in the final phase of the 12th council and to bring their work to a successful close.
