SPOTV News reporter Kang Hyo-jin reports that Kim Myung-joon, the anchor of MBN’s flagship news program News Fighter, has left the network after 18 years and announced he will pursue a freelance career.

On the 27th, Kim posted on social media that he was departing MBN after nearly two decades. “It’s a road I’ve never walked before. I’m afraid, but I trust your support and I’m going to give it a try,” he wrote, officially confirming his resignation.

Kim began his journalism career at Segye Ilbo in 2000 and joined MBN in 2008. He hosted Morning Window for Maeil Business from 2013 to 2015, and since 2015 has fronted Kim Myung-joon’s News Fighter.

Known for his blunt delivery and signature stern reactions, Kim has made a strong impression on viewers. As a freelancer, he plans to continue working with broadcasters and on YouTube channels.

After 18 years on staff, observers are watching to see what kind of presence he will carve out in the freelance market.
