Google Search briefly experienced an outage this afternoon (May 12) but has since returned to normal. Some users reported encountering a message saying, “An internal server error occurred; engineers are working to resolve the issue,” when they tried to search. Users also took to social media, including X (formerly Twitter), reporting that Google Search wasn’t working or had gone down. At about 2:30 p.m., the Google homepage displayed a “Please try again later” notice for users attempting searches. By roughly 2:40 p.m., the service was restored.
