The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation’s Cycle & Boat Racing Headquarters drew attention after staging an indoor orienteering competition and then running the “Bomi and Ssedam” program, which combined environmental cleanup with charitable giving.

On the 25th, the headquarters said the indoor orienteering event at Gwangmyeong Speedome concluded successfully, drawing strong participation from local residents and club members.

The event took advantage of the indoor space at Gwangmyeong Speedome — the world’s largest dome-style velodrome — and attracted roughly 250 participants.

Competitors used maps and compasses to find checkpoints placed throughout the facility, testing both navigation skills and physical endurance.

Families and young people made up a notable share of participants, underscoring the sport’s potential as a multi-generational recreational activity.

Held indoors with safety prioritized, the event was accessible to beginners and helped broaden the sport’s appeal.

‘Bomi and Ssedam’ event — cleanup and donations combined

Alongside the competition, the headquarters organized the “Bomi and Ssedam” event on the 24th around the Gwangmyeong Speedome, pairing environmental cleanup activities with a donation drive.

About 120 employees and staff set out from the Speedome’s Pedal Plaza and walked nearby trails, the Mokgam Stream area, and Dodoksan, collecting litter as part of a “Ssedam Walk.”

For Earth Day, participants also joined a plogging event in the Cheolsan commercial district with Gwangmyeong City’s ESG action team. The headquarters delivered donations intended to support vulnerable community members.

The headquarters allocated 30,000,000 KRW (about $22,500) to a bicycle distribution program and 5,000,000 KRW (about $3,750) to support sports and cultural experience initiatives. These funds will be distributed to local children and youth families through the Gwangmyeong City Council of Social Welfare.

Branch offices contributed an additional 14,500,000 KRW (about $10,875) in donations, further expanding community support efforts.

A Cycle & Boat Racing Headquarters official said, “We will continue to expand eco-friendly activities and social contributions and fulfill our responsibilities as a community partner.”
