The union at Samsung Biologics will launch a full-scale strike tomorrow (the 1st) as planned. The Samsung Group cross-company labor union’s Samsung Biologics branch said the first round of its general strike will continue unchanged through the 5th. Earlier, CEO John Lim apologized to employees for “failing to communicate proactively” and pledged to reach an amicable collective bargaining agreement, but his apology did not halt the strike. The union is calling for a reset of personnel policies and for measures to close wage gaps within the group. In particular, it has demanded a one-time payment of 30 million KRW (approximately $22,500) per person and an average 14% wage increase.
