Translation result.김장겸 [Herald Economy = Reporter Yoon Chaeyoung] Rep. Kim Jang-gyeom of the People Power Party and the AI Insights Forum announced on the 18th that they will co-host the 9th forum, titled “Jobs and Security in the Physical AI Era,” at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building on the morning of the 20th.

Kim’s office said the forum was organized to proactively identify and address shifts in employment structures and physical-security threats as artificial intelligence moves beyond online and digital spaces into manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, transportation and defense.

The event will be chaired by Kim Beom-soo, a professor at Yonsei University and president of the Korean Association for Management Information Systems. In the keynote presentations, Song Young-hee of the Seoul Science Graduate School will examine industrial changes and job dynamics in the physical AI era, while Noh Byung-gyu of Yonsei University’s Barun ICT Research Center will outline emerging security threats and response priorities.

In the designated discussion session, panelists will include Kang Dae-yeop, a professor at Loyola Marymount University and director of the AIMetrica Institute; lawyer Eom Ja-hye, deputy secretary-general of the Korean Bar Association; Eom Seong-yong, professor and head of the Knowledge Management Department at Chung-Ang University; and Kim Ho-rim, a professor at Dongyang University and chair of the AI Insights Forum. They will conduct an in-depth discussion aimed at producing legislative and policy recommendations that reflect perspectives from the field.

Rep. Kim said physical AI could present new growth opportunities for South Korea, but warned that inadequate preparation could lead to serious disruptions in employment and national security. He expressed hope that the forum will serve as an important starting point for jointly assessing job strategies and security policies for the physical AI era.

Kim Beom-soo, president of the Korean Association for Management Information Systems and a Yonsei University professor, said the emergence of physical AI presents both innovation and growth opportunities and major challenges, including job restructuring and responsibilities for safety and security. He stressed that practical laws and institutional frameworks must be implemented promptly to ensure the technology is deployed responsibly in society.
