[Sports Today reporter Lee Sang-pil] The final round of the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC), which will determine the fate of South Korea’s national baseball team, is underway. SBS’s broadcast team, on the ground in Miami, delivered incisive analysis ahead of the quarterfinal matchup with the Dominican Republic.

The Ryu Ji-hyun–managed South Korea will meet the Dominican Republic in a WBC quarterfinal at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida, on the 14th at 7:30 a.m. KST.

Korea will turn to veteran starter Ryu Hyun-jin as it chases another upset.

SBS’s top broadcast trio—commentators Lee Dae-ho and Lee Soon-chul, alongside caster Jung Woo-young—will call the action from Miami after a near-perfect run of predictions during the preliminaries. Lee Dae-ho pinpointed Ryu Hyun-jin as the central answer to the Dominican lineup’s firepower.

He emphasized that against a Dominican offense built on raw power, savvy game management matters more than pure velocity. In that regard, Ryu Hyun-jin is the team’s most reliable trump card. He added that baseball is unpredictable and urged the squad not to be overawed by the Dominican stars; if Korea keeps its balance and plays its game, it has a real shot at winning.

Lee Soon-chul echoed that sentiment, highlighting Korea’s trademark cohesion. He likened the team’s approach to \”bibimbap baseball\”—a balanced mix of different strengths—and argued that staying true to that style will open the door to victory.

Fans have been closely following Lee Dae-ho’s commentary all tournament. He nailed the predicted score in the Australia game (7-2), identified Moon Bo-kyung early on as a key hitter, and earned the nickname \”the pinpoint commentator.\” He even instinctively called Kim Do-young’s crucial on-base moment that helped secure advancement, so viewers are especially eager for his readouts from Miami.

South Korea’s national pride is on the line in the WBC quarterfinal against the Dominican Republic, which will be broadcast live on SBS on the 14th at 7 a.m.
