[Sports Today reporter Shin Seo-young] Kim Hyo-joo extended her lead for a second straight day at the LPGA’s Fortinet Founders Cup, a $3 million purse event.

On the 21st (Korean time), Kim carded a 2-under 70 in the second round at Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club (par 72) in Menlo Park, Calif., posting four birdies and two bogeys.

The round moved her to 11-under 133 overall, allowing her to retain the solo lead she held after the opening round. Gaby Lopez of Mexico is alone in second at 7-under 137, four shots back.

Kim, a seven-time LPGA winner, is chasing her eighth career title — her first since last March’s Ford Championship.

She has played two events this season, with a third-place finish at the Honda Thailand last month as her best result.

Starting on the par-5 10th, Kim dropped a shot at the par-4 11th. After a string of pars, she bogeyed the par-3 17th but responded with a birdie at the par-5 18th.

Settling into the front nine, she birdied the par-4 1st and again at the par-4 3rd.

She parred most of the remainder of the round and closed with a birdie at the par-3 8th to finish the second round.

Other Korean players in the field also climbed the leaderboard.

Im Jin-hee and Choi Hye-jin tied for third at 6-under 138 alongside Nelly Korda (U.S.) and Minjee Lee (Australia).

Rookie Lee Dong-eun, along with Yoo Hae-ran and Jeon In-ji, finished tied for 17th at 4-under 140.
