[Sports Today reporter Lee Sang-pil] Nicknamed “Cabbage Boy,” Lee Sang-ho clinched gold at the season finale of the 2025–2026 International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Cup.

Lee defeated Christoph Karner of Austria in the men’s parallel giant slalom final on the 21st (local time) in Winterberg, Germany, to take the top podium spot.

He closed the 2025–2026 World Cup season with two gold medals and one silver — winning in Slovenia in February and again at this event, and earning silver at the Poland World Cup earlier this month.

Lee also became the first South Korean rider to reach five career wins in FIS World Cup competition.

After topping qualifying at the event, Lee beat Cody Winters (USA) in the round of 16, Ole Mikel Frantl (Germany) in the quarterfinals and Alexander Payer (Austria) in the semifinals.

He then overcame Karner in the final to secure the gold.

On his social media, Lee wrote, “I did my best to live up to everyone’s support, but this season still leaves me with many regrets. Still, thanks to your encouragement, I was able to finish strong despite difficult circumstances. I sincerely thank you all.”

Meanwhile, Kim Sang-gyeom, the silver medalist in the men’s parallel event at the 2026 Milan–Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics, did not compete in this tournament.
