[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] Kim Hye-seong, who didn’t make the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Opening Day roster, made a loud statement in Triple-A with a five-hit performance.

Playing for the Dodgers’ Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets, Kim started as the leadoff hitter and second baseman on March 29 (Korean time) at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He went 5-for-5 with an RBI and four runs scored against the Albuquerque Isotopes (a Colorado Rockies affiliate) in the 2026 Triple-A matchup.

In spring exhibition games before the season, Kim showed strong form, hitting .407 (11-for-27) with one home run and six RBIs.

The Dodgers, however, felt he needed adjustments to his batting stance and ultimately decided to option him to Triple-A after deliberation.

After recording his first hit in the minor-league opener on March 28, Kim erupted with five hits the following day, making a strong push for a major-league call-up.

His Triple-A batting average rose to .600 (6-for-10).

Batting leadoff with his team trailing 0-3 in the bottom of the first, Kim battled to a full count and lined a single to right, but he was left stranded when the next hitters couldn’t drive him in.

In the bottom of the third, Kim opened the inning with an infield single toward first and later scored on James Tipps III’s triple.

With one out and a runner at first in the bottom of the fourth and the Comets trying to cut a 4-6 deficit, Kim ripped a slider from reliever Carson Skipper into a two-base hit that drove in a run.

He then came around to score on another double by Tipps III.

Kim stayed hot. In the bottom of the sixth with one out and a runner at first, he turned on a cutter from reliever Keegan Thompson and singled to center. He later scored after Tipps III singled and Ryan Fitzgerald doubled.

In the bottom of the eighth, Kim singled to center off reliever Luis Peralta, advanced to third on a double by Tipps III, and scored when Peralta balked.

Oklahoma City completed the comeback, winning 13-6.
