[MyDaily = Kim Gun-ho] They’re all just talking.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea) dismissed transfer links to Manchester United, stressing he has no plans to leave Chelsea.

Palmer, a product of Manchester City, never cemented a place in City’s senior squad. He moved to Chelsea in September 2023 to take on a new challenge.

He has flourished at Chelsea. In 2023–24 he played 45 matches, scoring 25 goals and providing 15 assists. He followed that with 52 appearances in 2024–25, netting 18 goals and adding 14 assists. This season he struggled early with a groin injury but has featured in 27 matches, recording 10 goals and 3 assists.

Although Palmer came through City’s youth system, reports say he grew up a Manchester United supporter. There were claims he was struggling with life in London and was eyeing a return to his hometown of Manchester via a move to United.

But neither United nor Palmer appears interested in a transfer. Palmer’s contract runs through June 2033, so there’s plenty of time left on his deal. Any club would likely have to pay a hefty fee to sign him, and United’s top priority in the market remains central midfield.

Palmer himself denied the speculation. In an interview with The Guardian on the 18th (KST), he said, “They’re all just talking. I just laugh when I see those stories. Of course Manchester is my hometown and my whole family is there, but I don’t miss it. Maybe if I went back for about three months I’d miss it, but if I returned home I feel there would be nothing there for me.”

Palmer made it clear he intends to stay at Chelsea. “I have no plans to leave Chelsea,” he said. “We still have a lot of games to play. We have an FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United, and if we finish the season in a Champions League position, we’ll be in a better place to bring in the players we need. I’ve spoken with the owners, and they’re confident about the players who can deliver. Reece James wouldn’t have signed a six-year deal if he hadn’t been speaking with the owners or directors.”

“Reece and I have had a lot of conversations about what we need, the players to bring in, and how things should unfold,” Palmer added. “If he didn’t understand how things were going, he wouldn’t have signed the new contract.”
