Next Month’s Insurance Discounts for 5-Day Vehicle Participation Amid Middle East Crisis

Daniel Kim Views

Insurers will roll out next month an insurance product offering premium discounts for vehicles participating in the 5-day rotation system the government introduced to reduce energy use amid the Middle East crisis. The ruling party, the government and the presidential office held a high-level meeting on the 22nd and said they discussed this measure along with other responses to the situation in the Middle East. They also agreed to prepare, within this month, measures to ease overcrowding on public transit, expand participation in energy-saving efforts and promote green consumption — including steps to stimulate tourism during the May holidays. Officials said they will decide whether to implement a fourth oil price cap after weighing its likely market effects, international crude prices and the burden on consumers. To protect vulnerable households, authorities will implement this month a policy allowing caseworkers to apply for livelihood benefits on behalf of families that urgently need support.
