On the morning of April 30, Jeon Jae-soo, the Democratic Party’s preliminary candidate for Busan mayor, held a campaign kickoff press conference. In the afternoon he launched his first in-person campaign, touring neighborhoods across Busanjin District.
He wrote on social media, “I am taking decisive steps to change citizens’ lives,” announcing the start of his field campaign.
“From Busanjin — the city’s core and its transportation hub — we will spread the momentum for Busan’s recovery into every neighborhood,” he said.
That day he visited the Bujeon Station area with Seo Eun-sook, the candidate for Busanjin district chief, to review plans for a multi-modal transit center and related projects.
During the evening commute, he went to the Seomyeon intersection and the Dangam intersection to meet residents face to face.
Emphasizing a citizen-centered approach, he said, “Government should not feel distant; it must be present at people’s dinner tables and on their way home,” stressing a hands-on, everyday governance style.
“Together with Seo Eun-sook, I will form a capable, united team to drive change in Busanjin and lead Busan’s renewal,” he added.
After recently registering as a preliminary candidate for mayor, Jeon has intensified his on-the-ground activities, accelerating his full-scale campaign effort.
