2026 평택 국회의원 재선거: 김용남 vs 조국, 누가 승리할까?

Former In the Pyeongtaek parliamentary by-election in Gyeonggi Province, former Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yong-nam and Cho Kuk, leader of the Innovation Party, are running a close race within the poll’s margin of error.

Hangil Research, commissioned by Incheon Ilbo, surveyed 500 residents aged 18 and older living in the Pyeongtaek district from May 1–2 and released the results the same day. The poll showed former lawmaker Kim receiving 30.8% support.

Cho placed second with 23.0%, while Yu Ui-dong, a former People Power Party lawmaker, came in third with 19.8%. Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty and Innovation Party, polled 9.6%, and Kim Jae-yeon, standing representative of the Progressive Party, had 9.3%. Other candidates accounted for 0.3%; respondents with no preferred candidate were 3.9%; undecided voters made up 3.3%. The gap between Kim and Cho was 7.8 percentage points, inside the margin of error.

Among respondents who said they definitely will vote, Kim led with 34.9% compared with Cho’s 27.0%, a 7.9 percentage-point difference. Yu polled 15.6%, Kim Jae-yeon 9.8%, and Hwang 8.8%.

By age cohort, Kim performed strongest among voters in their 50s and 60s. In the 50s, Kim had 42.9%, Cho 21.3%, and Yu 13.9%. In the 60s, Kim registered 41.8%, Cho 21.3%, and Yu 13.8%. Among voters aged 70 and over, Yu led with 44.0%, putting him ahead of Kim beyond the margin of error.

On party support, the Democratic Party recorded 48.1%, leading the People Power Party at 22.1% by 26.0 percentage points. The Innovation Party registered 7.6%, the Progressive Party 5.6%, and the Reform Innovation Party 2.4%. Those saying they support no party made up 7.1%, and ‘don’t know’ responses were 3.0%.

The survey was conducted using an automated response system (ARS) with virtual mobile numbers. The margin of error is ±4.4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, and the response rate was 7.7%. For detailed results, refer to the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website.
