Kim Jeong-seop, a candidate for mayor of Gongju, issued a press release on the 6th outlining campaign commitments he expects will attract public interest.

He described the initiative as the \”Small Joys Pledge\” campaign, saying he will work with residents to develop policy ideas that protect everyday rights and implement them in daily life.

He said he launched the campaign to share community-focused, day-to-day measures with residents, separate from his issue-by-issue platform.

He pledged a 10% bonus when residents use Gongju Pay in towns and townships, to expand acceptance of the discounted transit card to taxis, and to install climate-controlled \”smart\” shelters at bus stops in those areas.

Proposals submitted directly by residents included a safety-focused refurbishment of the Sejong–Gongju–Buyeo Geum River bike path; installation of diagonal, or \”scramble,\” crosswalks at major intersections; free admission to Gongsanseong Fortress, King Muryeong’s Tomb, and the Seokjang-ri Museum for visitors wearing hanbok; and wider installation of fold-out seats under crosswalk shade canopies.

Residents also suggested developing a single app that consolidates information on performances, exhibitions, classes, and events, and providing support for pet microchipping and preventive vaccinations.

Kim said citizen engagement is essential to the policy-making process and pledged to concentrate on developing practical, effective commitments.
