Can Real Madrid Overcome Injuries to Stop Barcelona’s Title Hopes in El Clasico?

[MyDaily = Reporter Shim Jae-hee] Real Madrid — a club synonymous with silverware — now faces the real possibility of finishing the season empty-handed. After falling short in the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey, their final chance is the LaLiga title, but that outlook has dimmed. If results don’t go their way, they could be forced to watch bitter rival FC Barcelona lift the trophy.

Injuries have ravaged Real’s squad. Key players are sidelined, leaving the team far from full strength. With the Round 35 trip to Camp Nou scheduled for the 11th (Korean time), the club confronts a stark scenario: failure to win could hand Barcelona the title at home, and Real’s fragile state only deepens the concern.

Real sits second in LaLiga with a 24-5-5 record and 77 points, trailing Barcelona’s 29-1-4 record and 88 points by 11. To overtake them would require a near-miracle: Real must win all four remaining matches while Barcelona drops four straight. In practical terms, the title is all but out of reach.

Still, Real is determined to prevent Barcelona from sealing the championship in El Clásico. No club wants to see a rival lift the trophy on its own turf — especially not at Camp Nou. That makes the trip on the 11th a must-win; a draw won’t do. Only a victory can delay Barcelona’s coronation.

The injury list is long. Dani Carvajal, Éder Militão, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo and Arda Güler have all been ruled out. Kylian Mbappé and Álvaro Arbeloa haven’t fully regained fitness either. To complicate matters further, an internal spat between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni — a publicly visible on-field altercation — leaves both players’ availability uncertain.

That forces Real to cobble together a lineup without several core starters, creating gaps in attack, midfield and defense. Objectively, the club might decide to accept that the title is beyond reach and focus on getting the best results from the available squad. But against a rival like Barcelona, and on their turf, surrender isn’t an option — doing so would only invite more criticism. For now, Real Madrid finds itself in a difficult, precarious moment.
