[AlphaBiz = Reporter Byungseong Park] San Francisco Giants outfielder Lee Jung-hoo exited the May 18 road game at Arizona after reporting lower-back muscle pain and will undergo further evaluation, the team said.

Lee started as the leadoff right fielder but was replaced in the bottom of the fourth inning while on defense.

Saina Rubin of The San Francisco Chronicle posted on social media that Lee’s exit was due to lower-back muscle pain. The club said it is monitoring his condition closely on a daily basis.

CBS Sports reported Lee will receive detailed examinations to determine whether he will be placed on the injured list (IL). The Giants will continue to track his status and will make a careful decision about his availability.

Fantasy outlet Rotoballer projects Lee is very likely to be left off the starting lineup for the May 20 game. RotoWire expects the team to give him at least a day of rest and believes the injury does not appear to be serious.

During his 2024 major-league debut season, Lee suffered a left-shoulder injury while fielding and was initially placed on the 10-day injured list. He later underwent surgery and was transferred to the 60-day IL, ending his season early. Since returning healthy, he has not been placed on the injured list.
