[MyDaily = Reporter Kim Jong-guk] Pep Guardiola is set to depart Manchester City this summer.

Manchester City confirmed on May 22 that Guardiola will bring an extraordinary 10-year spell as manager to an end and step down this summer. Since joining the club in July 2016, he transformed the squad and guided City to 20 major trophies, cementing his status as the most successful manager in the club’s history. The club said Guardiola will leave the managerial role but remain with the City Football Group as a global ambassador, offering technical advice to group clubs and participating in specific projects and collaborations.

Guardiola released a brief statement reflecting on his time at the club: “The time we’ve spent together has been incredibly precious. I don’t want people to ask why I’m leaving. There isn’t a single special reason, but I knew it was time to go. I will never forget every moment and everything about this club.”

During his decade at City, Guardiola won six Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League. He also lifted the FA Cup three times and the League Cup five times, along with trophies such as the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Community Shield.

On May 17 at Wembley Stadium, Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 to capture the 2025–26 FA Cup. That victory served as Guardiola’s final trophy after ten years in charge.
