[MyDaily = Reporter Shim Hye-jin] Connor Seabold, who previously pitched for the Samsung Lions, surrendered a run Wednesday, his first in three appearances.
Seabold entered in relief on May 23 (KST) at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland, and allowed one run on three hits over one inning.
His season ERA rose to 3.45. He threw 34 pitches, with a top velocity of 94.5 mph (about 152 km/h).
With his team trailing 3–6 in the bottom of the fifth and two outs, Seabold came on as Detroit’s third pitcher. He gave up a single to Cody Mayo but got Jackson Holliday to fly out to right to end the inning.
He yielded a run in the sixth. On his seventh pitch to Gunnar Henderson, Seabold threw an 82.7-mph changeup that resulted in an infield single to short. He then fell behind Adley Rutschman, throwing three straight balls before retiring him on consecutive 92.9-mph and 91.1-mph fastballs. On a full count, Seabold fired a 93.6-mph fastball but gave up another single to right. With one out and runners on first and third, he served an 81.1-mph slider to Pete Alonso that produced a sacrifice fly.
Seabold’s outing ended there. He was replaced by Kyle Finnegan after 34 pitches.
After allowing two runs in one inning against Cincinnati on April 22, Seabold had posted three straight scoreless appearances, but he gave up runs again in this game.
Seabold is well known to Korean fans. He wore the Samsung uniform in 2024 and was listed on the roster as \”Connor.\” He went 11–6 and was a key part of Samsung’s rotation, but a late-season injury forced him off the team and he did not return for the postseason.
Since then, Seabold has spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers in the majors. Last year he appeared in seven games and posted a 4.35 ERA.
This season he didn’t sign with Detroit until late March and then suffered an ankle injury in April. After recovering, he made two minor-league appearances before returning to the big leagues.
At that time, Ko Woo-seok was in Triple-A, but Seabold reached the majors before him.
Through this game, Seabold has appeared in 11 games, worked 15 2/3 innings, recorded one win and owns a 3.45 ERA.
