President Donald Trump suggested the administration will announce a deal soon, saying the final issues and details of an agreement with Iran are currently under discussion.

According to Yonhap on the 24th, Trump wrote on social media that the United States, Iran and several other countries have largely negotiated the agreement and that only final ratification remains.

He added that, among many other elements, the agreement would lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

He did not give a specific date for a formal announcement, but his comments were widely interpreted to mean a ceasefire agreement with Iran is nearly complete.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is visiting India, told reporters the administration might announce something “later today, tomorrow, or in a few days,” suggesting a deal could be announced as soon as that day.

Trump also told local media the talks with Iran were getting very close and said he would decide by Sunday the 24th whether to resume air strikes against Iran.

From the Oval Office, he said he had just held very productive calls with leaders and senior officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Jordan and Bahrain. He said they discussed all matters related to Iran and a “peace memorandum of understanding” (MOU).

He named Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia; President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE; Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar; Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani of Qatar; Minister Ali Al-Sawadi of Qatar; Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir of Pakistan; President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye; President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt; King Abdullah II of Jordan; and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

Trump added that he had also spoken separately with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi (Benjamin Netanyahu) and that their call went very well, signaling that Israel—another party to the conflict—had no major objections to the terms under discussion.
