Los Angeles Angels fans finally took their anger to the streets.

They staged coordinated protests inside and outside Angel Stadium during the home game against the Texas Rangers, demanding that owner Arte Moreno step down. Some fans dressed in black or removed their shirts as they chanted slogans, while others held signs reading “Sell the team.”

The demonstrations were timed to coincide with the nationally televised game. Supporters say they can no longer tolerate the team’s prolonged struggles and what they view as poor management.

The Angels haven’t finished a season at .500 or better since 2015. This season, they’re mired near the bottom of the league with no sign of a rebound.

Frustration intensified because, despite having two once-in-a-generation talents in Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, the club has still failed to contend for the postseason.

Critics also pointed to costly free-agent signings that didn’t pan out.

High-profile acquisitions such as Albert Pujols and Anthony Rendon fell short of expectations, and many argue the front office has lost a clear plan for roster construction.

Mismanagement has spilled over off the field.

The city of Anaheim remains at odds with the Angels over stadium renovations and lease negotiations, and some local voices have even argued the team should drop “Los Angeles” from its name.

Moreno, who bought the Angels in 2003, did raise the franchise’s value significantly, but many fans are disappointed with both his investments and how he has run the club. Trust took a hit after he announced plans to sell in 2022 and then reversed course.

Local supporters say this is about more than on-field results; they contend the franchise’s future itself is at risk. Calls for new ownership are growing louder, and many believe a successful rebuild will be difficult without a change in leadership.
